Pupils first identify primes using the Sieve of Eratosthenes, and then investigate various patterns within the prime numbers.

Definition of a prime number, and familiarity with the first few prime numbers.

1. Print off a copy of the A3 pupil sheet for each pupil, or possibly pair of pupils, in your class.

2. You may wish to briefly introduce the concept of The Sieve of Eratosthenes before pupils begin activity.

3. Pupils can thereafter work through problems at their own pace. I suggest having a copy of the teacher sheet with you for reference.
