A3 Pupil Sheet
A3 Teacher Sheet

Quick Description

Pupils investigate the number of intersection points, open regions and closed regions formed when drawing lines on a plane. This is a classic investigation which can be used to enrich and extend learning on quadratic sequences.

Prior Knowledge

Linear and quadratic sequences.

Instructions

  1. Print out one copy of the A3 pupil sheet for each pupil.

  2. Stress the point that the investigations assumes lines are not parallel, nor would three lines have a single point of intersection.

  3. Once set up, pupils can work their way through the tasks at their own pace.

*I suggest printing a copy of the teacher sheet for your reference as pupils work.
